PhD, Biological Sciences, South Dakota State University, SD
I was born and raised in Nepal. I received my bachelor's degree from Tribhuvan University (TU) in Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry. For further education, I joined Dr. Joy Scaria lab at South Dakota State University where I completed my Ph.D. in Biological Sciences in May, 2020. During my Ph.D., I worked to culture and characterize anaerobic bacteria from healthy human gut samples and formulate microbial blends that could be used as biotherapeutics against gut pathogens like Clostridium difficile.
As a postdoc, I have joined Dr. Mangalam's lab where I will be using my anaerobic microbiology skills along with bioinformatics and mice models to decipher "gut-brain network" in multiple sclerosis.
