Bimta Subba

Undergraduate Research Assistant
Biography

Education

I am currently an undergrad at the University of Iowa. I am planning on obtaining my bachelor’s by the end of 2024.

My name is Bimta Subba. I was born in Nepal and I moved to the United States when I was 6 years old. I am currently in my 2nd year of undergrad pursuing a bachelor’s in Human physiology with a certificate in public health. Throughout high school and the beginning of undergrad, I knew I wanted to pursue something in clinical medicine and health care but after attending the University of Iowa, my perspective on medicine has changed. Now, I have gotten to experience the research side of medicine, and since I have gotten the opportunity to venture out in public health, my goals have slightly shifted as my curiosity starts leaning more towards epidemiological work. I am planning on working as an undergrad research assistant in Dr. Mangalam’s lab throughout the remaining of my undergrad years and hope to develop my lab skills along the way. I will continue to work towards finishing my undergrad in Human Physiology and continue on to grad school in hopes to further my education in that field. After finishing my master’s, I would like to do some humanitarian work with IOM on the medicine side of things and see where life takes me from there.
