Francesca Cannon

Undergraduate Research Assistant
Biography

I was raised in California and spent much of my early years exploring the West Coast's ocean, mountains, and forests. I moved to Iowa in middle school and quickly set my sights on the University of Iowa to get my degree in psychology by the time I was in high school. Now, I’m pursuing my B.S. in Psychology with a minor in biology. After working for a year in an oncology unit at UIHC, I sought out research opportunities for undergraduates, hoping to find one that focused on autoimmune disorders or cancers. I found the Mangalam Lab and I’m so glad I did. I had minimal background in Multiple Sclerosis, but since I joined, I have learned so much and have a lot of interest in how diet affects the disease outcome. I have enjoyed the knowledge and experience I gained in my first few months in the lab and look forward to participating in a research project with another lab member.
