Samsam Mohamed
I was born in Kenya and moved to the United States at the age of four, living in Illinois and Nebraska before settling in Iowa where I completed my Associate of Science Degree. My journey in higher education was deeply shaped by the loss of my mother, which pushed me to pursue medicine so I can advocate for others and give back to my community.
Joining the Mangalam Lab allows me to expand my knowledge of Multiple Sclerosis and Computational Biology while also gaining some firsthand research experience. While I have limited prior research experience, I hope this opportunity helps me develop valuable skills, expand my knowledge, and learn from both my peers and mentors. I hope to carry this experience forward as I continue my academic and medical journey.
On another note, outside of school I really enjoy reading, watching movies, and spending time with my family, friends, and cat.
