Could healthy gut bacteria hold the key to a new way of treating multiple sclerosis? That is a possibility raised by a new study in mice conducted by scientists with University of Iowa Health Care and Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn.

Shailesh K. Shahi will present his research findings at the 2017 Annual AAI meeting in Washington D.C. He is working on a research project to decipher the role of gut microbiota in an animal model of multiple sclerosis.

Drs. Bradley Ford, Siegfried Janz, Kevin Legge and Ashutosh Mangalam were each awarded $30,000 Medical Research Initiative Grants from the Roy J. Carver Charitable Trust.

Shailesh K. Shahi has been awarded the Multiple Sclerosis Society’s (NMSS) Travel Award for 2016 Autumn Immunology Conference, held in Chicago November 18-21, 2016. He is working on a research project to decipher role of gut microbiota in modulation of multiple sclerosis (MS) in its animal model.
